While these pictures were perfect for their intended use, they weren't exactly "greeting card" material. The client wanted to capture the moment, their prom, and their beautiful smiles to associate it with their friendship. She also wanted a sunset as a backdrop and a "dreamy" feel to it.

The first thing we did was extract the two beautiful young ladies out of the original photos and laid them onto a sunset background. We inverted (mirrored) the subject on the left to have them facing each other. The background was nice on it's own, but we found too much of a gap in between our subjects. To bridge the gap between them, we placed a flare in the middle to represent the Sun setting and added yet another flare to add sparkle to the Sun. We brought a sense of balance between the 2 subjects by adding the illusion of an arm to the young lady on the right. In the original photograph, her arm was covered by a throw, while the young lady on the left had hers exposed. Recalling that the client wanted a "dreamy" feel to it, we faded our subjects into the background making them "translucent" achieving the effect she desired. We also emphasized the word "Friends" with an extra backdrop and gave it the feel of a "bridge" between them and finished it off with the Eternity symbol to imply "For Ever."

We found that the photo could benefit from a little photo enhancement as well as adding a slight sense of romance. The couple looked adorable together but the lighting was off which made their faces look washed out. The background was too dark and we didn't think anybody needed to know what they were having for dinner that evening.

The first thing we did was adjust and balance the brightness and contrast which made the couple look clearer. We cropped out the dark background and the plate with the zitis and replaced it with a romantic sunset scene backdrop and a couple of candles. We also added a couple of flowers which played off the color of the woman's lips and finished the photo off by placing it within a frame.
