The first poem reads:
On January 14th, 1998,
Heaven above delivered my Soulmate.
Struck by Cupid's arrow, our romance begun,
Singing in the rain and dancing in the sun,
From Parador to Sevilla to the Algarve Beach,
All the stars were within our reach.
And on that starry night of New Year’s Eve,
A marriage proposal from you I receive.
On April 22, 2001,
While playing our song, "You’re Still the One”,
On the most special day of my life,
In the eyes of God we became husband and wife.
I love you more with each passing day.
I love you more then words could ever say.
I have loved you right from the very start,
How lucky I am that you own my heart.
The second poem reads (provided by our client):
In the top drawer of your dresser
Is one pair of little shoes
And a pair of little booties
From which I have to choose.
Although you can not walk yet,
Out with me you go.
For strolls in different shades of pink
That envies your sweet glow.
But soon my little baby
Has grown to toddler size,
In patent leather party shoes
You walked alone, to my surprise.
I was forever watching closely
As you took each shaky stride.
And though you may not have noticed,
I was always at your side.
Your nursery became a bedroom.
And the baby's crib was put away.
In brand new grown-up Maryjanes
You're off for school's first day.
As you skipped into the school yard,
Like you were dancing in the air,
I stood there smiling bravely,
Your good-bye kiss brought a tear.
As my little girl grew older
I treasured every year.
Your first high heels and cowboy boots
We chose with so much care.
And then as if by magic,
My little girl is grown.
I dreamed of your wedding day,
A loving husband of your own.
Today you're walking down the aisle,
Fernando by your side.
In shoes of fine white satin,
My heart may burst with pride.
God has blessed my life
With the sounds of little shoes.
And he's shared with me these treasures
Of countless memories of blues,
Of pinks and whites and yellows,
Of ruffles, ribbons and bows.
A collection of little slippers
To cover your little toes.
I will always be thankful
For the joy you brought to me.
I'll cherish the laughter and the tears,
And I know that you will be...
The one who will pass these blessings
To your children and to their's.
And cherish every little step
And always keep me in your prayers.
To my precious daughter, Denise
On your wedding day
With all my love and admiration, Mom.
